O365 and G Suite (formerly GAFE) as products were not vetted through a regular procurement process by the Ministry of Education or OSAPAC. A working group, comprised of School Board privacy officers, School Board legal advisors, OSAPAC, OASBO and Ministry legal advisors, checked the Terms of Agreements, and proposed addenda for both contracts. The vendors accepted those addenda, and the Ministry then sent the addenda to boards with the suggestion that if they signed a contract with either Microsoft (O365) and Google (G Suite), they might want to include the Addendum. Since then both Microsoft and Google have added the addenda into their standard contracts. This work has led to the wide adoption of use by all boards across the province of either or both of these two cloud services.
